This time, although they scored first on a goal by Matt Irwin, that would be the last goal of the season as the Kings scored three unanswered goals and beat San Jose 3-1 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals. - Ryan Leong
3-1? Did you turn the game off in the 3rd period or do empty net goals no longer count?

Fixed...thanks. Great series Sharks. Too bad this series had to be played in the first round, as it would have made an epic conference final.

Maybe muzz took some lessons from pavelski (I'm looking at game 6) or couture... Worked for them and now it worked for muzzin. |

I hit publish a little too quickly and forgot to go back and fix the score graph. Quick trigger. |

Except..the sharks don't get past the first round so it never would have happened. LOL
What an epic collapse. Kings didn't even have to try THAT hard. Its killing me being a Sharks fan. |

I wonder........did you get a chance to ask McClellan if he should have put stalock in mid game?
Pretender:
Ryan leong....for being so proud of calling out Sutter on his goaltending decision in game 1 .for calling muzzin a pretender after tuning his skills from watching the sharks embellishing. Muzzin was awesome and will be a thorn in the sharks side for years to come
No offense to sharks fans.........I'm bummed for you guys I thought this post season would be better for all you |

Just ignore the guys who get off by grinding salt into the wound.
I do have a serious question. High skilled teams that have great success during the regular season but fold in the playoffs do so for different reasons.
For example, some teams just do not have enough hardened playoff experience. They don't understand how every game and every series gets tougher. Colorado, this year, might be an example of a team not experienced in the tough play in the post season (this obviously is not the Sharks).
The playoffs are far tougher physically and sometimes a really high skilled team can steal a round or two but the lack of physical toughness catches up to them. Montreal this year looked like a super team against Tampa but they probably hit a brick wall against Boston in the next round. I did not think of the Sharks as a soft team?
And, sometimes, the lack of playoff success is simply about leadership. A player like Toeves in Chicago who wills his team to victory. A player who will not accept excuses for losing. I think this may be the Shark issue. Don't know. But, perhaps it is time for a mini rebuild around Couture and some of the other young guys. Maybe time for some of the older guys to move on. |

Wow, this is not a fun moment for the Sharks fan. Sometime changes is good, but not too much. I would keep the core of this group and bring in another top talent with leadership. Spezza is available and we need a top Dman.

The Sharks are the Senators from 2001-2007, great teams that never reached their potential when it counted.
I think McLennan and Wilson get turfed. It's sad for them because it was their players that let them down the last 4 games. Also, Boyle will not be resigned. I doubt much of anything else significant happens to the roster. |

This may be what happens, but it will not solve the problem ...... unfortunatley it is not possible to solve the problem easily ..... how do you get rid of Jumbo Joe and Patric Marleau???? |

I think you have to hold Thornton responsible. He is the leader on the ice and when he looks discouraged being down by 1 goal, who does he think his teammates are looking at?
I think he could have turned the Sharks around by going after someone and throwing some punches. Who cares if he gets an extra 2 min, at least it would have shown some passion to the rest of the team.
As a Kings fan I was in shock at how little the Sharks seemed to care by the 10 min mark of the 3rd. We were in full shutdown mode but San Jose would not drive to the net when in our zone. I saw several times where they chose the perimeter shot when they had a clear path right in front of Quick.
Sorry Sharks fans because something needs to be done in San Jose and it's probably not going to be pretty. |

Agreed. I think it would definitely benefit the Sharks to take that C off his chest... maybe even the Sharks logo too. |

Wilson has brought in the talent, but McLellan is simply out-coached yet again. He alone should take the fall. |

The Canes would gladly take Joe off your hands. The Canes haven't made the playoffs in 5 years and would be happy getting there at this point. |

I would hate to see the coach and the GM get turfed. If your best players can't rise to the occasion, then you need new best players, with a winning mentality. There is a saying that goes "when the game is on the line, winners want the ball". When I read that Thornton was invisible for four games, it highlights the issue. |
